About Us
Founded in 1992, Behr McCarter is primarily a firm of trial attorneys. We focus on complex civil litigation, working with national and international insurers, business owners, contractors, hospitals, physicians, municipalities, and individuals on a wide range of cases. We handle matters throughout Missouri and Illinois in both federal and state courts.
Our attorneys have been recognized for their excellence in practice. Tony Behr and Steve Potter are recipients of Missouri’s most prestigious trial lawyer award, the Lon O. Hocker Memorial Trial Lawyer Award, making Behr McCarter the only firm in St. Louis County with two recipients of this award. Joe Neely is a recipient of the American Bar Association Outstanding Young Military Lawyer Award which recognizes the legal contributions of one young judge advocate from each uniformed service.

We are committed to serving the Bar and our community. Dudley McCarter is a past President of both the Missouri Bar and the Mizzou Alumni Association. Tony Behr served a six-year elected term as a member of the 21st Circuit Judicial Commission (St. Louis County) for the selection of judges, during which term fifteen judges from diverse backgrounds were appointed to the bench. Tony Behr and Dudley McCarter are past Presidents of the St. Louis County Bar Association, and Steve Potter is a past President of the Lawyers Association of St. Louis. Our attorneys are actively involved in their churches and parishes, as well as local and national charitable organizations. We are proud to have on our team a veterans of the United States Marine Corps, Joe Neely and United States Army, Dudley McCarter.
